| Another
Quiet Month
by Cassa Pancho
I'm writing this after coming out of company class, but I'll
talk about that in a minute…
It has been quiet, but in a good way. By that I mean that
things seem to be progressing slowly, but definitely surely.
We lost a couple of dancers this month - but they seem to
be a bit like buses - you lose one and another pops up from
somewhere else. There has also been triumph over death, in
that a new church administrator has risen from the ashes and
declared that the hall (mentioned a couple of months ago)
shall be ours. At the same time as that happening, the Royal
Academy of Dance has come to our rescue and provided us with
somewhere to rehearse at the weekends.
So, today's company class…
Denzil, Venetia and Vanessa were all previously engaged today
- so it was up to me to take the class. I was a bit apprehensive,
as it's always been Denzil's job, and the dancers are used
to working with him. It turned out really well, and I found
that after a long spell of teaching people no higher than
my knee, it was cool to work with "grown-ups" (by
this I mean I didn't need to chase them around the studio,
or say "no…don't swing on that barre" or "take
your finger out of there please") But seriously, it was
brilliant. I had a great time and the dancers were extremely
focused and worked amazingly hard. Watch out Denzil - I could
get used to this…
